Graduate Engineering Geologist

Summary

Murphy Geospatial is leading European geospatial firm and proud member of Woolpert - a global AEG consultancy with over 2,700 professionals across 60+ offices. Our newly established Ground Investigation department is expanding, and we are looking for enthusiastic graduates to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing division focused on delivering high-quality factual ground investigation services, with plans to develop into interpretative geotechnical and contamination assessments.

As a Graduate Engineering Geologist, you will work on a variety of ground investigation projects, supporting senior engineers and project managers. You will gain hands-on experience in site work, data collection, and reporting, while developing your technical knowledge and practical skills.

Job Specification

The key accountabilities and associated duties include:

• Assist with site investigations, including soil and rock logging to BS5930 standards.
• Supervise drilling and sampling operations.
• Collect and manage geotechnical and geoenvironmental data.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Prepare factual reports and contribute to project documentation.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Conduct groundwater and gas monitoring, sampling, and perform in-situ geotechnical tests in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.

Role Requirements

• A degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in ground investigation and geotechnical engineering.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel and work outdoors in varying conditions across the UK.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• Full rights to work in UK.
