Structural Engineer

We’re looking for a driven Structural Engineer to join our Christchurch team and help deliver a diverse range of commercial and industrial projects. This is a great opportunity to take ownership early in your career - leading projects and managing client relationships while developing toward a senior engineering role.

At Babbage, you’ll join a highly capable Christchurch-based Structural Engineering team alongside our civil, geotechnical, building services and environmental specialists. Your Role

You’ll lead projects from concept through to delivery (with final sign-off via a senior engineer), building strong client relationships and supporting the team’s continued growth. You’ll be trusted to run jobs independently while being backed by a team that’s supportive, ambitious, and values learning, development, and having fun along the way.

Key Responsibilities

• Structural design and delivery on commercial and industrial projects
• Managing project timelines, budgets, and client expectations
• Supporting junior team members and working closely alongside experienced Technicians
• Communicating confidently with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants
• Taking initiative to solve problems and deliver high-quality engineering outcomes

What You’ll Bring

• A self-starter with 4+ years’ structural engineering experience
• Ambition to work toward CPEng registration with Engineering New Zealand
• Strong technical capability across steel, concrete, and timber structures
• Confident communication skills and a willingness to build client relationships
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
• Someone who enjoys being part of a fun, flexible, and growth-minded team
