GEICO is looking for an accomplished, customer-obsessed, and results-oriented Senior Product Manager to lead our Data Platform. This role will drive strategic direction for our data platform, services, and tools, focusing on enabling data products and data mesh architecture. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data platforms and a proven track record of delivering complex, scalable solutions.Β 

DescriptionΒ 

As a Senior Product Manager for the Data Platform, you will be responsible for defining and executing the product vision for GEICO's data platform products. This role requires deep technical understanding of data platforms and modern data architectures, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to bridge technical solutions with business value.Β 

Key ResponsibilitiesΒ 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive platform vision aligned with business goals and customer needsΒ 

  • Create and maintain a clear, prioritized roadmap that balances short-term delivery with long-term strategic objectivesΒ 

  • Evangelize the Data Platform across the organization and drive stakeholder alignmentΒ 

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and competitive landscape (Snowflake, AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.) to inform platform strategyΒ 

  • Lead requirement gathering and product strategy for data platform services and toolsΒ 

  • Understand end-to-end data analytics and AI/ML operations workflows and how data platforms fit into the broader data ecosystemΒ 

  • Drive data governance initiatives and cross-team collaboration with other data teamsΒ 

  • Ensure platform adheres to regulatory, compliance, and data quality standardsΒ 

  • Own and partner with engineering on the development of tools and services that increase adoption of the Data PlatformΒ 

  • Define product capabilities to improve platform accessibility, reliability, usability, security, and performance.Β 

  • Conduct customer roadshows and training on data platform capabilitiesΒ 

  • Build instrumentation and observability into data platform tools and services to enable data-driven production decisionsΒ 

  • Work closely with engineering, design, and data teams to ensure seamless product deliveryΒ 

  • Partner with customer success, support, and engineering teams to create clear feedback loopsΒ 

  • Translate technical capabilities into business value and user benefitsΒ 

  • Drive alignment across multiple stakeholders and teams in complex, ambiguous environmentsΒ 

  • Incorporate vendor platforms, tools, and services into the roadmap and product strategyΒ 

QualificationsΒ 

Β 

  • Strong understanding of modern data architectures, query engines, and compute frameworks (Spark, Trino, Databricks, Presto, etc.)Β 

  • Experience building APIs, SDKs, or client integration layers for large-scale platformsΒ 

  • Experience with working with vendor platforms, tools, and services as a product manager, incorporating them into the roadmap and product strategyΒ 

  • Familiarity with instrumentation, telemetry, and observability practicesΒ 

  • Experience in cloud data ecosystems (AWS, GCP, Azure)Β 

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach to decision-makingΒ 

  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps)Β 

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skillsΒ 

  • Exceptional organizational skills with proven ability to manage complex backlogsΒ 

PreferredΒ 

  • Previous experience as a software or data engineer is a plusΒ 

  • Strong business acumen to prioritize features based on customer value and business impactΒ 

  • Experience with data analytics tools (Jupyter Notebooks, Apache Superset, Tableau, Power BI, etc.)Β 

  • Experience with semantic models and layersΒ 

  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance requirementsΒ 

  • Insurance industry experienceΒ 

ExperienceΒ 

  • Minimum 7+ years of technical product management experience with data platforms, developer tools, distributed systems, or data infrastructureΒ 

  • Track record of delivering successful products in fast-paced environmentsΒ 

  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiativesΒ 

  • Proven ability to work with technical teams and translate business requirements into technical product specificationsΒ 

  • Experience with customer research, user interviews, and data-driven decision makingΒ 

EducationΒ 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, management information systems, or related technical field Β 

  • MBA/MS or equivalent experience preferredΒ

Annual Salary

$131,200.00 - $229,600.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
