JOB DUTIES: Lead end-to-end product management activities across the lifecycle of Project 25 (P25) Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems and product features for public safety users, to support internal and external customers on government product related activities, including initial development, deployment, maintenance, and end-of-life planning. Work hours will be allocated approximately, as follows:

  • Conduct in-depth user research to identify needs and pain points of radio communications users (e.g., public safety agencies, military, business industry) and translate them into detailed product requirements for P25 Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems, products and features using AIS Gateway and DFSI Gateway technologies, and knowledge of P25 and DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) protocols (5%).
  • Manage internal/external customer feature request from initial product development to completion, applying knowledge of product management and software development Life Cycles. Serve as the point of contact for stakeholders on product configurations (10%).
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional departments, including engineering, sales, support, QA, and supply chain to ensure project/product alignment and timely execution, using Agile, Scrum, or SAFe project management frameworks (5%).
  • Plan and oversee product and software releases (including feature readiness, documentation, and ship acceptance processes) (2.5%).
  • Deliver training, tools, and resources to sales and support teams to improve product knowledge and customer engagement (2.5%).
  • Engage with vendors to manage partnerships, licensing, and supply agreements; assist with sales opportunities, RFP responses, and key account support (5%).
  • Provide strategic support for field and trade show events by presenting product updates, demos, and use cases.
  • Supervise and manage 1-4 team members directly or indirectly as necessary, assign tasks, provide regular feedback and guidance, and give performance reviews (20%).

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and maintain product collateral including datasheets, white papers, and presentations; compile data, develop and document use cases, user stories, functional requirement documents (FRDs), and product requirement documents (PRDs) (10%).
  • Prepare and present product overviews and technical deep-dives to internal teams, customers, and industry partners.Β 
  • Evaluate product performance and drive roadmap development to address evolving user needs and ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications, and compliance with operational, safety and other regulatory standards (10%).
  • Develop and manage compliance matrices to ensure products meet APCO P25, TIA (Telecommunications Industry Association), FCC, IC (Canada), military specifications, and other regulatory standards, applying knowledge and expertise of IP networking, cybersecurity, and interoperability between radio systems (5%).

STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Author and maintain Market Requirements Documents (MRDs) based on insights from customer feedback, field data, and trend analysis (10%).
  • Analyze revenue performance and margin contribution across the product portfolio using Data Analysis and Business Intelligence tools (including MS Power BI, Tableau, MS Excel, Salesforce, Python, and R) to inform investment decisions, develop business cases for new initiatives, features, or product lines, and define partnership and distribution strategies to expand reach and market penetration (5%).
  • Conduct in-depth market research, win/loss analysis, and competitive benchmarking to inform strategy and positioning (10%).

JOB REQUIREMENTS:Β 

1. Master’s or equivalent degree in Electrical/Industrial Engineering, Information Technology & Management, Systems Management, or Business Management, plus 3 years of experienceΒ in the job offered or asΒ Product Manager/Assoc. Product Manager, or Engineering/Operation/Product Management occupation in LMR industry.

2.Β Must have experience with the following:

  • Project 25 products;
  • RF communication and wireless technologies: P25, DMR and NXDN protocols, and AIS Gateway and DFSI Gateway;
  • Product Management and Software Development Life Cycle;
  • Agile, Scrum, or SAFe project management frameworks;
  • Data Analysis and Business Intelligence tools (such as MS Power BI, Tableau, MS Excel, Salesforce, Python, R);
  • IP networking, cybersecurity, and interoperability between radio systems; and
  • FCC, IC regulations and military specifications.
