Job Description:
Responsible for maximizing the value for a product. Defines the vision and roadmap for the product, defining and prioritizing stories in the product backlog, and articulating this to both stakeholders and the development team. Works closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, and with the Product Manager in a scaled Agile model to ensure there is alignment. Possess a working knowledge of the product, and basic understanding of the business or technology domain. With some guidance, creates the vision and roadmap for the product to align with strategic direction for the business or technology domain. Communicates the product vision and roadmap to stakeholders and the team. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand their needs and problems. Creates and prioritizes work for one team. Learning to collaborate with cross-functional teams. With some guidance, creates and prioritizes stories in the product backlog. Refines stories with the team to ensure there are enough ready stories to load the next 1-2 sprints. Reviews and accepts stories and is empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements. Works in partnership with the team to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and through an advanced understanding of the business. Individual contributor.

Application and Database services is looking for a technically adept Technical Product Owner with expertise in Java middleware systems running on Linux platforms. In this role, you will drive the development of scalable backend services, working closely with cross-functional teams to design, build, and optimize solutions for provisioning and configuring Java-based middleware. You will play a critical role in shaping product strategy, aligning technical deliverables with broader business objectives to ensure the middleware platform supports current and future product needs. This position requires a strong understanding of system architecture, APIs, service orchestration, and Linux environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the product backlog for Java-based middleware components, ensuring clarity, technical feasibility, and alignment with business goals.
  • Define and communicate detailed technical requirements and user stories for backend systems and integration layers.
  • Contribute to and influence product strategy, ensuring that the middleware architecture aligns with long-term business objectives and platform scalability.
  • Work with engineering teams to design solutions that scale, focusing on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support middleware deployment and monitoring on Linux servers.
  • Monitor system performance and support troubleshooting efforts, using tools such as log analyzers and performance profilers.
  • Fill the role of the SACM (Service Asset and Configuration Management) Process Controller, ensuring configuration items are properly recorded, maintained, and aligned with change management policies.
  • Fill the role of AIT owner for the ADS Middleware Engineering AIT.
  • Facilitate collaboration between middleware teams and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment, issue resolution, and shared understanding of technical priorities.
  • Host regular middleware office hours to provide visibility, guidance, and open Q&A for teams across the organization.
  • Lead request intake and review meetings to triage, prioritize, and clarify new middleware-related demands from internal and external teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Five to seven years working with Linux operating systems
  • Five to seven years working with Middleware products, Apache HTTP, Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere
  • Three to five years working with Agile methodologies, Cloud technologies and DevOps/SRE model
  • Excellent project management skills, relationship management, communication, teamwork, and influence skills; ability to operate at senior levels in both written and verbal communications interacting professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated and can work independently as well as in a team environment

Pay range

$88,100.00 - $153,200.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.
