Role Overview
The Product Manager for Premium Products owns the development of high-ticket, more complex, and collector-oriented sets. These products represent the top tier of the brandβwith larger builds, higher price points, and elevated storytelling.
This role is deeply focused on product quality, detail, and build experience, while also helping shape the product roadmap through calendar planning, competitive insight, and portfolio expansion.
Key Responsibilities
1. Premium Product Development (Concept β Production)
- Lead creation of larger, more intricate, and highly detailed builds
- Work closely with product designers to refine structure, proportions, and visual accuracy
- Ensure each product delivers a collector-grade, premium experience
- Push for iterative refinement until the product feels fully resolved
2. Build Experience & Product Detail
- Own the end-to-end build experience (flow, clarity, and satisfaction)
- Ensure instructions are intuitive and frustration-free
- Identify and eliminate weak connections or inconsistencies
- Maintain a high bar for product polish
3. Packaging & Product Presentation
- Partner with packaging/design to elevate box presence and storytelling
- Ensure packaging reflects the premium nature of the product
- Deliver a cohesive unboxing experience
4. Licensing & Approvals
- Ensure accuracy and authenticity of premium SKUs
- Manage approval flow for concepts, packaging, and samples
- Maintain high standards for IP translation into brick form
5. Costing & Product Integrity
- Own FOB cost targets and pricing strategy
- Balance piece count, complexity, and cost
- Partner with sourcing to optimize materials, packaging, and logistics
- Balance product design with cost constraints to hit margin goals
- Protect product integrity and perceived value
6. Product Line Strategy
- Build hero SKUs that anchor the lineup
- Develop cohesive premium product lines
- Identify opportunities for collector series and expansions
7. Retail & Timeline Execution
- Own timelines tied to major retail calendars (MOD dates, seasonal sets, etc.)
- Build and manage milestone schedules aligned with timelines
- Ensure products are ready for placement with key accounts such as Walmart and Target
- Coordinate with sales on SKU assortment, pricing tiers, and packaging formats
8. Competitive & Market Research
- Study competitor products and trends in premium space
- Conduct in-store and online research
- Translate insights into product direction
9. Portfolio & Line Expansion
- Review our portfolio across categories, brands, and licenses
- Propose new product lines based on calendar needs and opportunities
10. Performance & Iteration
- Track performance and customer feedback
- Expand successful products into series
- Continuously refine product standards
Qualifications
- 4β8+ years in product management
- Experience with premium or complex products
- Strong eye for detail and product quality
- Experience with licensed products preferred
