Product Manager, Alumni Management
Reports to:Β VP, Product Management
Location:Β Salt Lake City, UT (preferred) or Remote
Role Summary
Weβre looking for a Product Manager to own Kipuβs Alumni Management product, a core part of our Patient Engagement Suite. Alumni Management helps behavioral health providers stay connected with patients after treatment, supporting long-term recovery through ongoing engagement, community building, and re-engagement workflows. Itβs a product area with significant strategic importance: alumni relationships compound over time and represent one of the most defensible growth channels in behavioral health.
Youβll drive the product roadmap from discovery through delivery, working closely with engineering, design, clinical stakeholders, and customers. Youβll need strong instincts for mobile UX, push/pull engagement patterns, and building products people actually want to open on their phones.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of product strategy and hands-on execution, who cares about outcomes over output, and who wants to build something that directly impacts recovery outcomes for patients and the providers who serve them.
What Youβll Do
Product Strategy and Roadmap
- Own the Alumni Management product roadmap, balancing near-term customer needs with long-term platform vision.
- Define and validate product opportunities through structured discovery: customer interviews, data analysis, competitive research, and collaboration with clinical and operational stakeholders.
- Develop a clear product strategy that positions Alumni Management as a differentiated, revenue-contributing part of Kipuβs platform.
- Advocate for the alumni product internally, ensuring it has the visibility and investment required to deliver on its strategic potential.
Mobile Product Leadership
- Partner with mobile engineering to define and ship mobile-first alumni engagement experiences across iOS and Android.
- Design engagement models that drive sustained usage: notifications, check-ins, community features, content delivery, and re-engagement triggers.
- Make thoughtful trade-offs between mobile and web experiences based on user context, workflow, and adoption data.
Customer and Market Engagement
- Build deep relationships with alumni coordinators, clinical directors, and facility operators to understand workflows, pain points, and unmet needs.
- Translate customer insights into product decisions, ensuring the roadmap reflects real-world usage and measurable value.
- Collaborate with sales, customer success, and marketing to support go-to-market efforts, including demos, positioning, and customer communications.
Strategic Pricing and Partnerships
- Define and recommend pricing strategies for Alumni Management that align with market trends, competitive positioning, and business objectives.
- Identify and manage strategic partnerships that enhance the productβs value, reach, and integration with the broader behavioral health ecosystem.
Execution and Delivery
- Translate product strategy into well-scoped epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and release coordination with engineering and QA.
- Define success metrics for every initiative and hold yourself and the team accountable to outcomes, not just delivery.
- Proactively manage trade-offs, dependencies, and escalations to keep delivery on track.
- Manage complex issues and risks, developing contingency plans for successful product delivery.
- Lead feature testing and optimization, ensuring optimal user experience and continuous product improvement.
Platform Integration
- Ensure Alumni Management integrates cleanly with the broader Kipu platform, including the EMR, CRM, and patient engagement workflows.
- Identify opportunities to leverage shared platform capabilities (notifications, identity, analytics) rather than building in isolation.
- Partner with other product managers to manage cross-product dependencies and shared roadmap commitments.
Stakeholder Alignment and Mentorship
- Ensure stakeholder visibility into product initiatives and align strategy with business objectives.
- Manage customer expectations to ensure alignment with product delivery and business objectives.
- Mentor Associate Product Managers, fostering innovation and excellence within the team.
Requirements for Consideration
- Experience: 3β7+ years of product management experience, with at least one year owning a customer-facing product end-to-end.
- Education: Bachelorβs Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Product Management, Engineering, or related), or equivalent job experience.
- Experience building or managing mobile products (iOS, Android, or cross-platform).
- Strong product discovery skills: ability to identify problems worth solving, validate assumptions, and make evidence-based prioritization decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with engineering teams, contributing to technical trade-off discussions without needing to write the code.
- Comfort with ambiguity and early-stage product definition. This is a product area being actively shaped, not a mature backlog to maintain.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and drive product success.
- Technical proficiency with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Atlassian) and data analysis.
- Deep empathy for users and a genuine interest in building products that improve outcomes for real people.
Nice to Have
- Experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, or healthcare technology.
- Familiarity with patient engagement, alumni programs, or community-based care coordination workflows.
- Experience with notification and engagement systems (push notifications, in-app messaging, automated outreach).
- Background in SaaS product management, particularly in vertical or platform-oriented companies.
- Experience integrating acquired products into a broader platform.
- Familiarity with analytics tools (Pendo, Amplitude, Mixpanel) for measuring product adoption and engagement.
Benefits & Compensation
- Highly competitive salary based on your local marketβs compensation data.
- Unlimited paid time off.
- 12 Paid Holidays.
- Health, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life Insurance.
- Parental Leave.
- Pet Insurance.
- 401(K) with Company Match.
