Job Description:

Merrill Edge Risk and Regulatory Portfolio Management Team is seeking a program manager to help with managing technology planning of risk initiatives (regulatory and audit) for the Preferred Business. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking leader with a proven track record of successfully working across multiple products and channels, skilled at managing risk, well versed in platform controls (tactical and technology) for client and associate facing applications and processes. This role requires an individual with a strong combination of strategic thinking, detailed tactical planning, risk management, time management and project management expertise. As a technology planning Program Manager, the ideal candidate will have the opportunity to serve as the primary point of contact and conduit for Preferred Technology Planning and centralized intake process. This leader will have accountability for reviewing Risk/Reg requests with key stakeholders to determine alignment, eligibility assessment and prioritize projects within the entire portfolio.


Responsibilities:

  • Acts as Point of Contact for all tech planning and funding of risk initiatives and manages the centralized intake process of all initiatives (including tracking of projects in pipeline, new, in year funding, etc.).
  • Makes highly complex judgements and responsible for reviewing Risk/Reg requests for eligibility assessment and prioritize initiatives using comprehensive understanding of our business, processes, and controls.
  • Full autonomy to identify opportunities, issues and solutions when reviewing projects for funding (including resolving funding, legal/risk/compliance issues.
  • Provides recommendations for senior executives on how best to mitigate regulatory and internally mandated issues through tech planning.
  • Participates in Initiative and Business Strategy and Roadmap development.
  • Performs recurring process management routines (meeting facilitation, status reporting, etc.) with Digital and Strategy Teams.
  • Partners closely with key stakeholders including Digital, Business, Supervision, Controls, Technology, FLU, and LRC teams to prioritize projects for tech funding.
  • Spearhead the development, communication, and implementation of mandated (external - regulatory, internal - audit) technology initiatives planning strategy and process.
  • Develops executive presentations and provides updates to line of business senior leadership team (across the Preferred business).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technology-related questions and updates for all project activity.
  • Periodic review of program/project health and communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders providing regular updates and reports.
  • Cultivates a positive team culture and ensures broader collaboration across the enterprise.
  • Proven presentation skills (written and oral): ability to present key messages, recommendations and information in a clear, concise, and insightful way and synthesize information key to relevant points to Senior Executives.
  • Proven executive presence, horizontal and strategic thinker with the ability to influence effectively at all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrates a good sense of judgment, knows when to escalate and how to manage expectations.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ Years of Project/Program Management Experience.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Working knowledge and experience of Technology planning and Change Management tools – CAST, PPRT.
  • Knowledge of Agile Methodology.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently as well as leading or participating in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills; verbal and written with high attention to details.
  • Effectively navigate complexity, prioritize tasks, manage capacity, and execute in a fast past environment.
  • Advanced/Expert MS Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates a good sense of judgment, knows when to escalate and how to manage expectations.
  • Considers a diverse set of data points and inputs and is decisive in solutioning.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity and working knowledge with change management tools (PPRT, UCRA, CAST) and tech finance processes, resources, AITs, and dashboards (Tableau, TPAS, PCM, etc.).
  • Advanced Degree preferred (MBA, Masters, etc.).
  • Prior experience in Banking and Brokerage.
  • Working knowledge with Technology and Digital teams.
  • Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking and distinguished communication skills.
  • PMP or Six Sigma Certification.

This job is responsible for overseeing programs andΒ projects specific to corporate change initiatives thatΒ impactΒ how the bankΒ does business, provides a product or service, or executes a function. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary contact to department managers for critical change initiatives and communicating, influencing, and negotiatingΒ vertically and horizontally to obtain or leverage resources.Β Job expectations include deliveringΒ regulatory and executive material and ensuringΒ results align to program strategy, simplification,Β and new capabilities.Β 

  • DefinesΒ program controls, processes, procedures, reporting cadence, decision governance structures,Β and ways of working with key stakeholdersΒ 
  • WorksΒ closely with project sponsors, cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to develop the scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for newΒ changeΒ initiatives
  • Monitors the execution of defined tasks through tracking of program milestones and their statuses, developing program plans, and measuring progress against ongoingΒ key performance indicators
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and overcomesΒ program risks,Β and producesΒ program reports for managers and stakeholders
  • Identifies key requirements for cross-functional teams and external vendorsΒ to perform in alignment with the program objectivesΒ 
  • Works with other program managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the department, leading them to negotiate decision making for efficient and effective resolution
  • Meets with stakeholders toΒ provide transparency intoΒ project issues and decisions on services, builds positiveΒ relationships, asksΒ questions,Β andΒ usesΒ tools to uncover root causes to challenges, identifyΒ opportunities, and make recommendations.

Pay range

$115,000.00 - $167,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
