This exempt position is responsible for the ownership, delivery, and long-term success of the firm’s legal practice and knowledge technology platforms. This role owns the design, delivery, and long-term evolution of products that capture structured data, streamline workflows, and generate meaningful insights from attorney work. Drawing on the firm’s deep institutional knowledge and differentiated market position, the Product Owner works with engineers to scope and develop tools and workflows that are bespoke to the firm - solutions that not only solve immediate practice needs but also enable long-term innovation and AI readiness. Working cross-functionally with attorneys, KM professionals, developers, and innovation leadership, this role ensures that the firm’s practice technology portfolio delivers tangible value and is positioned for future growth.

Essential Duties:

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of legal practice and KM technology products, including roadmap, execution, and long-term support.

  • Design and implement workflows that capture and structure data from attorney work product, templates, and legal activity.

  • Partner with attorneys and KM professionals to identify data capture opportunities across matters, documents, and internal tools.

  • Prioritize and manage product enhancements, feature requests, and new integrations based on business impact and evolving needs.

  • Serve as the long-term owner of deployed solutions, ensuring continued effectiveness, attorney adoption, and alignment with firm strategy.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Practice Innovation Engineer on solution delivery, configuration, and performance tuning.

  • Connect structured data and workflow outputs to broader initiatives such as AI integration, business intelligence, and KM enrichment.

  • Lead training efforts, rollout planning, and change management to maximize engagement and value realization.

  • Monitor and report on key product KPIs, including usage, adoption, data quality, and downstream business outcomes.

  • Coordinate closely with IT and external vendors to support platform performance, maintenance, and roadmap alignment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationship:

The Practice Applications Product Owner reports directly to the Director of Practice Innovation.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, legal knowledge systems, or legal operations.

  • Strong background in practice data capture, structured data modeling, or document intelligence.

  • Experience owning attorney-facing or KM-related products in a law firm or legal tech environment.

  • Experience designing and maintaining legal workflows that are both practice-specific and firm-wide.

Skills:

  • Ability to translate legal workflows into structured data requirements and user-facing tools.

  • Strong product ownership and delivery discipline, with a focus on long-term sustainability.

  • Strategic thinker who understands how data powers insights, search, automation, and AI.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across legal, KM, innovation, and IT teams.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Foundation, Power Platform, NetDocuments, or document intelligence platforms is a plus.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in law, business, information systems, or related field; JD or legal industry experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machines, such as a copier, scanner, and printer.

  • Constant communication with attorneys, clients, and firm staff is required.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment.

  • Occasional extended hours beyond the normal schedule may be required to meet firm or client needs.
