OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Product Manager is a self-motivated, organized, multi-tasker that will support the Product Managers to successfully produce and implement our product(s). The Assistant Product Manager will also work closely with Product Engineers, Project Managers, Project Coordinators and other internal department personnel in executing their tasks. Product types may apply to utility-scale PV solar plants, other renewable energy plants, commercial and industrial buildings, substation, and/or transmission and distribution projects. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, pays great attention to detail and is curious about assigned product lines and the industry.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support alignment of product scope with the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) by clearly communicating product requirements to the project team, flagging any misalignment to the Product Manager.
  • Monitor execution and completion of product-related deliverables (internal and external), maintain up-to-date status for deliverable owners by following up as needed, and communicate status, risks, and delays to the Product Manager and project team.
  • Manage internal product design schedules and monitor product delivery schedules for assigned product lines, communicating schedule changes, risks, and impacts to the project team and escalating schedule-related concerns to the Product Manager.
  • Review contract scope, specifications, and product submittals as needed to identify potential material discrepancies for assigned product lines and escalate them to the Product Engineer or Product Manager for review and resolution.
  • Serve as the primary intake for product-related issues and warranty claims, track action items, coordinate with the Product Manager, Product Engineer, and other stakeholders as needed, ensuring action items come to a resolution.
  • Maintain product-related logs (issues, lessons learned, catalogs, and other items as needed), ensuring entries are accurate, up to date, and organized for use by the Product Manager and product team.
  • Facilitate product-related meetings by preparing agendas as needed, capturing minutes and action items, and tracking those action items to closure
  • Provide support and coverage for Product Manager responsibilities during absences or as delegated, helping maintain continuity for assigned product lines.
  • Train on and perform duties in accordance with the quality management system (QMS).
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with coworkers and clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Assist in preparing costing for change requests
    • Maintain departmental work instructions and procedures
    • Build and maintain product schedules from scratch
    • Review project contracts to ensure product conformance
    • Support the development of new products and product improvements by coordinating with the Implementation Manager on product-related tasks, schedules, and documentation at the direction of the Product Manager.
    • Support continuous improvement of assigned product lines by gathering feedback and sharing improvement opportunities with the Product Manager and Product Engineer.
    • Assist in the training of Level I Assistant Product Managers
  • Additional - Desired Skills & Experience
    • 2+ years as an Assistant Project/Product Manager or equivalent position in the construction or manufacturing industries

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Undergraduate degree in related fields (engineering, manufacturing) desired
  • Experience in an equivalent position within the construction or manufacturing industries is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and their components
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and schedules
  • Familiar with product cost, scheduling, estimating, and purchasing
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Email, Technical Writing and Scheduling software)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
  • Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.
  • Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time.
  • Push, pull, lift, and carry at least 10 pounds.
  • Frequently required to walk and stand. This position may involve infrequent site visits which will require the ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proofread documents to identify errors. ย ย 
  • Required to use fingers and hands: ย type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.
  • May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. ย 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Assistant Product Engineer position splits time between both office and field environments. The office is an open and collaborative environment where you will work both independently and with the team. When on-site, you will be working in construction environments including building construction, industrial plants, utility-scale PV solar plants, other renewable energy plants and substations 12kV through 230kV. While on-site, you will spend significant time working independently, often in fairly remote rural locations, possibly in extreme weather conditions.

LOCATION:
Construction Innovations facilities and offices are located in Sacramento, CA and Mather, CA.

COMPENSATION:
A reasonable estimate of the current hourly range for this position is $23.85 - $34.66 per hour. The actual amount offered within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant job-related factors. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
