As a part of the Walmart US Innovation and Automation organization, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of the supply chain for the #1 grocer in the US. This team supports the growing needs of the grocery distribution network by enabling innovative, automated solutions to increase capacity, improve associate friendliness, and help supply Walmart Stores and Sam’s Clubs with the quality groceries our customers expect. As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the systems integration strategy in Walmart’s automated grocery distribution centers in the entire US. What you will need…
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering, automation, product management, project management, management consulting, retail or eCommerce business functions, or related field
  • Gathering, identifying, defining, and communicating requirements to lead automation, software product, or solution development for new and existing automated facilities
  • Consulting and advising business partners utilizing detailed analysis of complex data to influence strategic decisions
  • Understanding algorithms, processes, and technology to recommend and implement next step solutions
You’ll make an impact through the following job functions…
  • Automation Integration: Combines knowledge of automation/system design and learning from previous implementations into a road map. Guides in resolving integration issues. Identifies and quantifies risks of proposed alternatives to a system or technology integration initiative. Runs integration and testing of upgrades, enhancements, and fixes. Designs and develops interfaces for multiple partners and platforms. Anticipates key problems and challenges for multi-system, multi-process integration. Implements planned and ad-hoc communications to and from affected parties. Ensures project problems are surfaced and reported to appropriate project personnel.
  • Product Management: Develops and enhances complex products by developing and managing product roadmaps; gathering and documenting requirements; collecting and analyzing customer and product data; turning customer insights into actionable priorities and initiatives; prioritizing product backlog; executing on user and business acceptance criteria; and managing roll out of product features.
  • Project Management:Β Plans and estimates complex projects under guidance. Produces standard project status reports. Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project. Assists in detailed project plans, including costs, schedules, and resource requirements. Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalents to track project progress and status. Manages multiple projects with varying timelines simultaneously.
  • Process Flow Design:Β Interprets information to quantify the anticipated outcome of supply chain decisions. Describes the typical tasks associated with using and managing suppliers. Understands issues and considerations for inbound and outbound logistics. Describes basic logistical processes and subprocesses. Uses a variety of business process design tools and techniques. Examines, interprets, and explains workflow materials and documentation. Analyzes a process and associated business logic and offers recommendations based on analysis. Carries out business process design tasks with some supervision and coaching. Documents common obstacles and barriers for effective implementation.
  • Continuous Improvement:Β Defines the critical workflow for executing key processes. Identifies process problems that limit performance. Focuses on the most significant problems to maximize efficiency gains. Surfaces systemic problems to be addressed at the organizational level. Implements methods for improving and establishing controls for critical processes. Monitors systems and processes after interventions to confirm success and to diagnose new or remaining problems. Implements methods of Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
  • Strategy Development:Β Defines and manages strategy and business objectives for moderately complex products by identifying market opportunities, conducting benchmark studies and competitive assessments; developing business cases; and setting objectives and key performance indicators for products.
  • Business Acumen: Provides recommendations to business stakeholders to solve complex business issues. Develops business cases for projects with a projected return on investment or cost savings. Demonstrates deep functional knowledge of the business unit/organization being supported. Translates business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks and aligns to the overall business strategy. Serves as an interpreter and conduit to connect business needs with tangible solutions and results. Recommends new processes and ways of working.
  • Operational Excellence:Β Assesses situations based on awareness of goals and operating issues of assigned department. Seeks guidance when assigned goals conflict with departmental goals or the overall strategy. Documents regulatory and reporting requirements. Works to resolve obstacles related to goals of own department. Understands the importance of and implementation of One Best Way and Standard Operating Procedure information. Identifies safety hazards and anomalies during operations processes and reports to supervisor.
  • Data and Digital Literacy: Leverage data analysis tools to explore complex data, develop and test hypotheses, use data to influence strategic work, and build and present insights with visualization tools. Identify, implement, and drive technology change. Use visualization tools to represent data and construct coherent stories to influence decisions.
  • Advanced Analytics: Evaluates the quality of data collected and the effectiveness of data analysis methods. Provides solutions to data requirements in the data analysis process. Tests and evaluates multiple solutions, methods, and models to determine accuracy, validity, and applicability. Establishes standards for the application and interpretation of statistical data. Analyzes complex data elements, systems, data flows, dependencies, and relationships to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models.
  • Automation System Design:Β Promotes the usage of automation machineries. Participates in implementation and training. Conducts cost-benefit analyses of machineries. Monitors actual versus planned. Consults on the use of advanced machineries for automation of supply chain processes. Helps develop and implement long-range automation plans. Works with multi-function and automating machineries that perform multiple and complicated tasks enabling time reduction of supply chain processes.
  • Engineering Economics: Applies principles used to evaluate the economics of investment decisions. Works with a specific financial analysis tool set. Interprets major types of financial data utilized by the organization and effectively summarizes and rolls up data. Implements valid financial analysis aligned with key criteria. Utilizes basic qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques. Builds business cases (for example, time value of money, return on investment, costs, investment drivers).
  • Partnership and Collaboration: Engage with team members regularly and establish credibility. Analyze stakeholder needs and partner with stakeholders to share relevant information. Take a "one team" approach to collaborate and accomplish goals for the business.
  • Influential Communication: Organize thoughts and communicate confidently, credibly, and concisely within scope of work. Present to and influence team and business partners, conveying messages through an understanding of the relevant context. Utilize relevant data to articulate results and provide recommendations in a structured manner. Actively listen to others, seek and provide constructive feedback, and provide ideas/recommendationsΒ on processes. Proactively builds a personal network.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
