The Product Owner will be responsible for driving the ideation, specification, prioritization, and acceptance of products and features developed by the engineering team supporting the Mercedes me mobile application. This role serves as the local representative for internal stakeholders and end users, ensuring that product decisions reflect business priorities, customer needs, technical feasibility, and the overall connected vehicle experience.Β 

Successful candidates will thrive in an agile environment, maintain a strong focus on customer value, and continuously improve the product through feedback, data, and stakeholder alignment. They will help shape and communicate the product roadmap, refine and prioritize the backlog, resolve dependencies across teams, and collaborate closely with engineering, design, quality, operations, and global counterparts to support successful delivery.Β

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ownership ofΒ Mercedes MobileΒ productΒ featuresΒ for North America
  • Understanding and advocating customer and stakeholder needs
  • Influencing product vision and laying out a roadmap to move towards it
  • Detailed project planning and management
  • Presenting the product and its status to leadership
  • Coordination of development process and teams
  • Operational support as needed
  • Participating in Scrum meetings such as grooming, planning, review and retrospective
  • Breaking down features into workable items
  • Actively demonstrating cross-functional collaboration with engineers and stakeholders in Germany and other US locations
  • Building a network of project relevant colleagues
  • Assisting with recruiting and hiring of team members
  • Identifying and gathering required data to make informed decisions
  • Mentoring team members
  • Occasional travel to Germany and our office in San Jose, CAΒ 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • ​​Bachelor's degree in information systems, Software/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experienceΒ 
  • 5+ years of relevant experienceΒ 
  • Experience leading mobile application teams with a strong understanding of app delivery processes and deployment pipelinesΒ 
  • Full proficiency in Scrum and Kanban
  • Ability to adapt processes to stakeholder needs and introduce major improvements to the processΒ 
  • Strong communication skillsΒ 
  • Pro-active working style and mindset to drive innovationΒ 
  • Experience with agile organizations and international teamsΒ 

Preferred Qualification:

  • Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) CertificationΒ 
  • Experience with development and business processes within a large organization

This position may involve access to export-controlled technology, hardware, or software under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), 15 C.F.R. Parts 730-774 and possibly technical data, defense articles and defense services subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), 22 C.F.R. Parts 120-130.
