Description

The SVP, Product Platform Lead is a senior leader within the Transformation & Delivery Office (TDO), responsible for leading one of the organization’s core delivery teams focused on Commercial Insurance product capabilities and product platform delivery. This role owns the shaping, prioritization, structuring, and delivery of work across the Commercial Insurance product portfolio, including BOP, Commercial Package, Auto, Workers Compensation, Umbrella, Excess, Equipment Breakdown, Inland Marine, and a new automated AI underwriting feature.

This leader partners closely with business and product leadership to identify future work, translate strategic objectives into an actionable delivery agenda, and structure that work so it can be executed efficiently and effectively. The role also works across technology, business analysis, business architecture, governance, and funding partners to ensure initiatives are well designed, appropriately sequenced, and delivered with discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Ownership

  • Lead the Product Platform team within the TDO, setting direction, priorities, and expectations for how work is shaped and delivered.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team focused on delivering product-related capabilities in a disciplined, efficient, and business-aligned manner.
  • Establish strong operating rhythms, accountability, and execution discipline across the team.
  • Create a culture focused on ownership, partnership, quality, and continuous improvement.

Business Partnership & Demand Shaping

  • Partner closely with business leaders to identify future needs, strategic objectives, pain points, and opportunities across the Commercial Insurance product portfolio.
  • Shape demand into a clear portfolio of work that reflects business priorities and delivery capacity.
  • Support business partners in making informed trade-off decisions about scope, sequencing, timing, and value.
  • Ensure the team is focused on the highest-value work and priorities remain aligned to business outcomes.

Work Structure

  • Translate business objectives into structured, executable bodies of work.
  • Break down complex initiatives into logical work packets, delivery increments, and capability-based roadmaps.
  • Ensure work is sequenced appropriately and dependencies are understood across business and technology teams.
  • Drive clarity on what needs to be delivered, in what order, and with what level of investment and effort.

Product Platform Capability

  • Own the delivery agenda for Commercial Insurance product capabilities across BOP, Commercial Package, Auto, Workers Compensation, Umbrella, Excess, Equipment Breakdown, Inland Marine, and related product initiatives.
  • Lead delivery planning for product enhancements, modernization efforts, and new capabilities that improve speed, flexibility, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support the introduction of new automated AI underwriting capabilities and ensure they are integrated thoughtfully into broader product and underwriting workflows.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify where better design, automation, and platform improvements can strengthen product performance and market responsiveness.
  • Ensure solutions are designed with an understanding of end-to-end product, underwriting, operational, and customer impacts.

Cross-Functional Delivery

  • Partner with IT, business analysts, business architecture, and other delivery teams to ensure work is well defined and feasible.
  • Ensure requirements, business process needs, system interactions, and delivery approaches are aligned before execution begins.
  • Work across organizational boundaries to resolve ambiguity, clarify ownership, and improve coordination across teams.
  • Serve as a senior integrator across business, product, technology, and delivery stakeholders.

JIRA, Work Management & Execution Discipline

  • Own JIRA work packet organization and related work management practices for the Product Platform portfolio.
  • Ensure work is structured to support visibility, traceability, prioritization, and efficient execution.
  • Promote strong standards for backlog organization, roadmap alignment, dependency visibility, and progress tracking.
  • Partner with planning and delivery practices teams to ensure consistent use of tools and execution methods.

Governance, Funding & Decision Support

  • Partner with governance and finance teams to ensure Product Platform work is aligned to funding processes, investment decisions, and portfolio priorities.
  • Support the preparation of business cases, roadmap decisions, and investment discussions related to the Product Platform portfolio.
  • Ensure key decisions, dependencies, risks, and trade-offs are surfaced in a timely and transparent way.
  • Provide leadership with clear visibility into planned work, progress, challenges, and required decisions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Build strong working relationships with business leaders, technology leaders, architects, analysts, underwriting partners, and governance stakeholders.
  • Communicate clearly on portfolio priorities, delivery plans, risks, and progress.
  • Serve as the senior TDO representative for Product Platform initiatives and capability discussions.
  • Ensure alignment across stakeholders on what is being delivered, why it matters, and how success will be measured.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve how product platform work is prioritized, designed, and delivered.
  • Bring structure and discipline to recurring delivery challenges and create repeatable ways of working.
  • Use lessons learned from programs and releases to improve future planning and execution.
  • Advance a more efficient, scalable, and business-aligned model for delivering Commercial Insurance product capabilities over time.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Significant leadership experience in program delivery, transformation, product/platform modernization, or related fields.
  • Strong experience in Commercial Insurance or property and casualty insurance, with meaningful knowledge of product-related processes and platforms.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and shaping strategic demand into structured portfolios, roadmaps, and executable delivery plans.
  • Strong understanding of how to organize work for delivery, including prioritization, sequencing, dependency management, and execution planning.
  • Experience working with JIRA and related delivery and planning tools.
  • Ability to work effectively across business analysis, architecture, governance, technology, underwriting, and funding stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and business judgment skills in a matrixed environment.
  • Strategic, hands-on leader with a strong bias for execution, the ability to bring order and structure to complex work, and a commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The pay range for the role is Β $200,000 to Β $250,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
