Job Description

Help drive the execution of MatrixSpace’s AI-enabled radar systems by turning complex, cross-functional software priorities into clear plans that teams can deliver against.

MatrixSpace develops AI-enabled radar and sensing systems that help people understand what's happening in the world around them. By combining advanced radar, edge computing, and AI, we deliver situational awareness in environments where traditional sensing solutions struggle.

We're looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager, Software Systems to own planning and execution across our software organization. You'll bring together platform development, AI/ML, DevSecOps, UI/UX, systems integration, product commitments, and customer programs into a coordinated execution plan, working across engineering, product, program, test, and operations. This is a senior individual-contributor role where you'll create clarity, surface conflicts early, and drive execution through influence rather than direct authority.

If you're technically fluent, comfortable challenging assumptions, and skilled at creating clarity across teams with competing priorities, we'd love to talk.

What You'll Do

  • Own and maintain the integrated software execution plan across Software Systems, translating approved priorities into coordinated schedules, dependencies, releases, milestones, readiness criteria, and escalation paths.
  • Bring product, customer, and program commitments into a common plan for shared software resources, working with Product and Program Management to identify competing demands and resolve priority conflicts before they disrupt execution.
  • Lead cross-functional execution across Core Software, AI/Data Science, DevSecOps, UI/UX, Mission Systems, Test Engineering, Product Management, Program Management, and Operations.
  • Partner with technical leaders to turn priorities into actionable work plans, backlogs, sprint plans, release plans, and measurable milestones while leaving architecture and technical decisions with the appropriate engineering owners.
  • Establish and run an effective software planning and execution cadence, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, release planning, retrospectives, and readiness reviews, using enough process to create predictability without adding unnecessary overhead.
  • Identify cross-team dependencies, resource constraints, schedule risks, and unrealistic commitments early. Bring stakeholders together around the issue, recommend practical tradeoffs, and escalate when a decision is needed.
  • Give senior leaders a clear view of execution, risks, dependencies, and decisions while continuously improving the planning mechanisms that help teams work effectively across organizational boundaries.

What We're Looking For

This position requires working directly or indirectly with the US Government in restricted environments. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and may be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance in the future.

Required

  • 8+ years of experience leading complex software development programs, technical programs, or cross-functional engineering initiatives in technically demanding product environments.
  • A track record of owning execution across multiple engineering disciplines, products, or programs where teams share resources and priorities compete.
  • Technical fluency across modern software development environments, including meaningful experience working with software engineering, AI/ML, DevSecOps, and systems integration teams.
  • Experience translating complex technical and business priorities into executable plans, dependencies, milestones, release schedules, and readiness criteria.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile software development practices and hands-on experience with development planning and execution tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, GitHub Projects, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence experienced technical and business leaders without direct authority, including challenging unrealistic timelines, surfacing conflicts, and holding stakeholders accountable to agreed plans.
  • The judgment and communication skills to frame execution problems in terms of their broader system and organizational impact, present clear options and tradeoffs, and build alignment among teams with different priorities.

Someone Who Will Thrive in This Role

  • You create clarity when priorities, dependencies, and ownership are complicated or changing.
  • You're comfortable holding your ground with experienced, opinionated stakeholders and can push back constructively when plans or commitments aren't realistic.
  • You stay several steps ahead, recognizing how a decision or delay in one part of the software organization will affect teams elsewhere.
  • You build credibility with technical teams through curiosity, preparation, follow-through, and an understanding of where program leadership ends and technical leadership begins.
  • You care about making teams more effective, not about adding process for its own sake, and continuously look for simpler ways to make execution more visible and predictable.

Bonus Points

  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, government, or other mission-critical programs.
  • Experience coordinating software delivery for products that combine software with hardware, sensors, edge computing, or other complex physical systems.
  • Experience supporting customer deployments, formal readiness gates, or releases with significant integration and test requirements.
  • Familiarity with radar, sensing, autonomy, or other real-world AI-enabled systems.

At MatrixSpace, this role sits at the center of how shared software capabilities move from development into products and customer programs. You'll help technical and business leaders turn complex priorities into coordinated execution so our teams can deliver capable, reliable systems in the real world. If that sounds exciting, we'd love to hear from you.
