Position Overview:
Hive Group is seeking aΒ Senior Product ManagerΒ to lead the development of innovative products that serve the government procurement and acquisition community. This role will balance the immediate needs of our federal clients with Hive Groupβs long-term technical and business goals, ensuring that the solutions we build today can scale across agencies and lead to lasting impact.
As one of our first senior product hires, you will also play a key role in establishing product management practices, building processes from scratch, and mentoring technical teams that are newer to formal product environments. You will work closely with company leadership, cross-functional teams, and government stakeholders to help define the future of Hive Groupβs product offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and lead product vision, strategy, and roadmaps that align client requirements with Hive Groupβs corporate product goals.
Work directly with government clients and users to deeply understand mission needs and procurement challenges.
Translate client needs and market opportunities into actionable product requirements, epics, and user stories; manage and prioritize product backlogs.
Partner with engineering and delivery teams to develop scalable, reusable solutions that can serve multiple clients and markets.
Build and implement product management systems and processes β including backlog management, release planning, user feedback loops, and documentation β in an environment where formal development practices are still maturing.
Foster product-oriented thinking and mentor cross-functional teams with varied levels of experience in product delivery.
Manage risks, track dependencies, and drive on-time, high-quality product releases.
Work with leadership to identify opportunities for productization, commercialization, and broader market impact.
Contribute to proposals, product demonstrations, and business development efforts.
Participate in occasional onsite client and team events in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Qualifications:
Bachelorβs degree in a relevant field; advanced degree a plus.
8+ years of product management experience, with at least 4 years delivering digital products in a government contracting, procurement, or acquisition-related environment.
Strong ability to balance client-specific objectives with broader corporate technical and scaling goals.
Demonstrated success establishing product management practices and systems in growing, entrepreneurial organizations.
Deep understanding of government contracting and procurement processes, including compliance considerations (FAR, DFARS, CMMC, Section 508, FedRAMP, etc.).
Exceptional client engagement and stakeholder management skills β with direct experience working with federal agency customers.
Proficient in agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.).
Strong leadership and mentoring skills; ability to inspire and develop cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication β written and verbal β across technical and non-technical audiences.
Public Trust clearance (or ability to obtain).
Preferred:
Experience developing SaaS products or scalable platforms in federal markets.
Familiarity with secure DevSecOps, CI/CD, and modern development environments.
Background in government procurement and acquisition solutions strongly preferred.
Experience with modular architectures and reusable service components.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated compensation range for this position is between $205,000 and $225,000 annually, based on benchmarks in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. This range reflects a good faith estimate for all experience levels.
