InflexionPoint is currently looking for a Technical Project / Program Manager to lead and deliver complex system integration and engineering projects. This role combines program management rigor with deep technical engagement and is focused on automation delivery for critical lab environments, including biosafety containment labs. The Technical Project / Program Manager will drive high-quality, efficient, secure, and maintainable solutions while coordinating across engineering teams, subcontractors, client stakeholders, and government stakeholders. This position requires a technically inclined project leader with industrial automation experience and the ability to manage scope, schedules, documents, subcontractors, and installation activities in a highly technical project environment.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage cross-functional automation and system integration projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery of high-quality, efficient, secure, testable, and maintainable solutions with minimal defects.Β 
  • Manage projects involving Rockwell-based automation environments, including FactoryTalk View SE for SCADA and FactoryTalk for Historian, with ControlLogix PLCs.Β 
  • Oversee project delivery for environmental control of critical lab areas, including critical biosafety containment labs (BSL labs).Β 
  • Oversee low voltage installation subcontractor's work and coordinate the same with GC and other trades as applicable. This includes instrument installation, control system wiring, associated pneumatic tubing and network (ethernet and fiber). Manage subcontractors across three primary scopes, including electrical installation, mechanical/pneumatic installation, and HVAC controls for office-area controls systems.Β 
  • Coordinate integration with vendor-supplied systems such as fire alarm, waste contaminant, and other systems delivered with their own PLCs.Β 
  • Manage project scope while ensuring alignment with the defined installation boundaries.Β 
  • Own project status communication by consistently delivering clear and concise summaries to client stakeholders, leadership and management teams, and government stakeholders, effectively answering detailed questions about project progress and outcomes.Β 
  • Proactively assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, navigate tradeoffs, and balance business needs against technical constraints.Β 
  • Develop and monitor project plans, timelines, budgets, deliverables, and resource requirements; escalate major risks or issues as needed.Β 
  • Independently resolve complex project issues, ensuring project objectives are met within agreed scope, schedule, and quality parameters.Β 
  • Transform raw thoughts and complex technical concepts into clear, consistent, and accurate technical documentation and direction.Β 
  • Facilitate effective meetings and communications among project stakeholders, driving consensus and action.Β 
  • Partner with engineering and business intelligence managers to secure resources, scope engineering efforts, set project priorities and milestones, and drive delivery to meet program goals and deadlines.Β 
  • Improve team processes, metrics, and operational efficiencies to unblock delivery, accelerate innovation, reduce costs, and enhance quality.Β 
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in program management methodologies and tools.Β 
Requirements

Education, Certifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.Β 
  • Minimum 10 years of project management experience delivering automation (systems integration) projects is required.Β 
  • Experience managing projects across cross-functional teams, building processes, and coordinating delivery schedules.Β 
  • Experience with project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management.Β 
  • Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design.Β 
  • Experience developing and executing project or technical roadmaps.Β 
  • Experience working with general contractors and coordinating with a highly technical team is required.Β 
  • Experience with industrial automation is required.Β 
  • Someone technically inclined, with the ability to engage effectively in automation-focused project environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with engineering teams.Β 
  • Experience managing subcontractors, including electrical installation and pneumatic/mechanical installation, is highly preferred.Β 
  • Experience in technical project or program management for highly technical automation environments.Β 
  • Formal training or certification in project/program management (e.g. PMP, Scrum, Agile).Β 
  • Proven ability to drive organizational change and process improvements.Β 
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.Β 
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.Β 
  • Ideally, candidates will have experience working as a Project Manager with the federal government.

Working Environment

Duties are performed in an office environment and workshop, but will also require travel to customer sites/locations to perform analysis, installation, training maintenance, etc. Must be willing to travel approximately 40% (average over long period); must be willing to work in a variety of manufacturing facilities. Must be able to routinely use standard office equipment which includes, but is not limited to, computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.Β 


Physical Demands

Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged hours consistent with the average workday; to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to computer, printer, etc. Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl; must be able to move, transport, position, place, install, remove and/or replace various types of equipment.Β
