Job Description:
This job is responsible for maximizing the value for one or more products. Key responsibilities include working with stakeholders to understand their needs, and with product owners or specialists to ensure they are aligning on priorities. Job expectations include ensuring delivery of products that meet client expectations, including features, security, availability, resiliency, timelines and costs.
The Product Manager supports portfolio governance, program management, reporting, and operational excellence activities across the organization. This role transforms complex delivery, risk, and performance data into actionable insights, oversees project execution from initiation through implementation, and coordinates stakeholders, resources, and dependencies to achieve business objectives. The Product Manager is responsible for managing project plans, monitoring progress, mitigating risks, and providing clear communication and reporting to executive leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Generates the vision and roadmap for the program based on customer requirements, industry trends, regulations, and the strategic direction for the business or technology domain
- Communicates the program vision and roadmap to stakeholders, product owners and the teams
- Oversees the budget(s) for one or more products by working closely with finance partners on both personnel and non-personnel expenses
- Provides input into defining business capabilities and aligning them to products or creating new products to support them
- Ensures product availability by partnering closely with demand and capacity teammates
- Develops business cases for new products and additional features for existing products
- Partners with the product owners and the teams to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and subject-matter expertise and understanding of the business and industry trends
- Coordinate and facilitate program management activities across multiple workstreams and value streams to support successful delivery of portfolio objectives
- Manage Program Management Office (PMO) functions, including governance, status reporting, meeting facilitation, action tracking, and executive communications
- Manage technology initiatives and projects throughout the project lifecycle, from intake and planning through implementation, deployment, and post-production support
- Partner with technology teams, and vendors to define requirements, establish delivery plans, and monitor execution against commitments
- Develop, maintain, and distribute weekly, monthly, and ad hoc program reports that provide visibility into delivery progress, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and overall portfolio health
- Create and maintain operational scorecards, dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), reporting to support performance management and leadership decision-making
- Collect, consolidate, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources to produce accurate and actionable management reporting
- Develop executive-level presentations and reporting materials that communicate program status, delivery performance, key achievements, risks, issues, and strategic priorities
- Facilitate the identification, tracking, and resolution of program dependencies, risks, issues, and impediments
- Monitor program and project performance against established objectives, milestones, schedules, and deliverables, escalating concerns as appropriate
- Establish and maintain project management processes for managing scope, timelines, quality standards, resource requirements, and risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate and monitor resource allocation to support efficient execution and achievement of project commitments
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, and third-party vendors
- Prepare and communicate project outcomes, risks, issues, and recommendations through established management channels
- Track action items, decisions, milestones, dependencies, and commitments to support accountability and successful delivery
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve governance processes, reporting capabilities, operational effectiveness, and overall program execution
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in program management, project management, PMO, business analysis, portfolio governance, or related disciplines
- Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise Program Management Office (PMO) functions, governance processes, and reporting routines
- Proven experience managing technology initiatives through the full project lifecycle, including planning, execution, implementation, and deployment
- Experience developing and maintaining operational scorecards, dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and executive reporting
- Proven ability to create executive-level presentations, reports, and briefing materials for audiences ranging from practitioners to senior leadership
- Experience coordinating cross-functional technology efforts and managing dependencies across multiple workstreams
- Working knowledge of software development and technology delivery processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to transform complex data into actionable insights
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, accuracy, deadlines, and execution
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Experience preparing and delivering weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting for leadership and governance forums
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and reporting or visualization tools used to support portfolio and program management
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise technology programs and portfolio management activities
- Experience developing executive dashboards, portfolio health reporting, and operational performance scorecards
- Experience supporting operational excellence and process improvement initiatives
- Highly organized, proactive, and executionβfocused, with a bias toward outcomes over activity
