Responsibilities:

Define Product Vision

  • Develop and articulate the long-term goals and direction for the product aligning with the company’s overall strategy
  • Create a road map outlining future product features, releases and timelines
  • Conduct thorough research to understand market trends, customer needs and competitive landscape
  • Identify potential new products or features addressing unmet customer needs and market gaps.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand business objects and translate them into clear product requirements.

Prioritize Features and Initiatives.

  • Determine features and initiatives to focus on based on market needs, business goals, and resource constraints
  • Work closely with engineering, marketing, sales and other teams to ensure successful product development and launch
  • Oversee the product from conception to end-of-life, including product launches, ongoing improvements and eventual deprecation
  • Clearly communicate product requirements and specifications to the development team
  • Monitor key metrics and analytics to assess product performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Collect and analyze customer feedback to inform product development and improvements
  • Responsible for ensuring successful product launches by coordinating with various teams and stakeholdersΒ 
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure that they have the necessary information and tools to effectively sell the product
  • Monitor product profitability and work to maximize revenue and minimize costs

Product Market Intelligence

  • Undertake research to establish a competitive brief on the product outlining share, capacity, product strengths and weaknessesΒ 
  • Share market intelligence findings with relevant internal stakeholders to inform business strategies.

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Collaborate with other departments, including marketing, finance, and operations, to align strategies and achieve overall company goals.
  • Work closely with the sales team, providing them with necessary support and resources to configure and quote solutions accurately.

Training Coordinator

  • Develop and maintain training materials for strapping application – unit load containment requirements, AAR and ASTM requirements, protective packaging, tools and standard machines and other products as required.
  • Develop and maintain sales training materials including value-add selling, value-propositionΒ 
    development and presentation skills.
  • Coordinate training of new hires and maintain ongoing training for existing sales staff.

Industry Standards Laison

  • Establish relationships and attend industry meetings with ASTM, AAR and other packaging related bodies.
  • Ensure that Samuel is aware of potential impacts to our business due to regulatory changes and and influence committees where possible.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in packaging, business, marketing, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
  • Proven track record of success in sales and business development preferably in the packaging industry or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of end-of-line industrial packaging supplies and equipment market, including key industry trends, competitors, and customer needs.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, industry influencers, and key stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of pricing strategies, market intelligence, and pricing governance.
  • Willingness to travel as required within North America up to 50%
  • Must have a working knowledge of an industry segment
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of field sales experience
  • Must have experience in sales forecasting and budgeting
  • Strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills
  • Ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Ability to effectively present information and negotiate with all levels of management including CFO, CIO, CEO and CCO
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
