MUFG is seeking aΒ Messaging & Collaboration ManagerΒ to lead our enterprise collaboration technologies team within the Workplace Engineering domain. In this role, you will overseeΒ Microsoft 365Β collaboration platforms – includingΒ Exchange email,Β Microsoft Teams,Β SharePointΒ (and OneDrive), andΒ audio/video conferencingΒ services – ensuring they are delivered securely, reliably, and in alignment with business needs. You will manage a group of subject-matter experts specializing in these areas, providing technical direction and people leadership to drive productivity and innovation in how our employees communicate and collaborate. As the Lead, you will set the vision, roadmap, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and ensure that all owned 365 products are designed and integrated to collectively contribute to business success

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the vision and strategic direction for the full range of 365 products, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and customer needs.

  • Platform Leadership:Β Own end-to-end management of MUFG’s messaging and collaboration platforms, includingΒ Exchange Online (email),Β Microsoft TeamsΒ (chat, meetings, voice),Β SharePoint Online,Β OneDrive, and related Office 365 services. Ensure these tools are effectively integrated and optimized to support both on-premises and remote workforce productivity

  • Team Management:Β Lead and mentor aΒ team of SMEsΒ (Subject Matter Experts) in email, collaboration, and AV technologies. Provide clear direction, set performance objectives, and foster professional development.Β 

  • Manage workloads and prioritiesΒ across SharePoint, Teams, audio/visual conferencing, and email support functions, ensuring all sub-teams work cohesively toward common goals.Β 

  • Service Delivery & Support:Β Design, deliver, and maintainΒ collaboration services according to best practices. Oversee day-to-day operations and ** Level 3 support** for messaging systems (Exchange, Outlook) and real-time collaboration tools (Teams, conference room A/V setups).Β 

  • Ensure reliability and performanceΒ of these platforms through proactive monitoring and incident management, meeting defined SLAs for uptime and responsiveness.Β 

  • Strategy & Innovation:Β Develop theΒ roadmap for messaging and collaboration technologies, aligned with MUFG’s business strategy.Β 

  • Identify industry trendsΒ (e.g. cloud collaboration, hybrid work enhancements, AI integration) and recommend adoption of new tools or features that improve employee productivity and engagement.

  • Drive projects toΒ upgrade or migrateΒ legacy systems (such as SharePoint on-premises to SharePoint Online, or legacy telephony to Teams Voice) and introduce innovative capabilities (automation, self-service, mobile collaboration, etc.).Β 

  • Governance, Security & Compliance:Β Enforce security policies and complianceΒ requirements across collaboration platforms. Work closely with IT Security and Compliance teams to implement proper access controls, data retention policies, and e-discovery capabilities for email and Teams content.

  • Ensure that messaging systems adhere to regulatory standards (e.g. email archiving for FINRA/SEC, data privacy) and thatΒ electronic communication surveillanceΒ tools (e.g. Global Relay, Microsoft Purview) are effectively utilized to monitor and archive communicationsΒ 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Β Collaborate withΒ Network EngineeringΒ (for bandwidth/latency considerations),Β Enterprise ArchitectureΒ (for alignment with broader IT strategy), andΒ Support/OperationsΒ teams to ensure end-to-end quality of service.

  • Partner withΒ VendorsΒ (especially Microsoft and A/V equipment providers) to address product issues, plan rollouts, and stay informed on technology updates. Communicate regularly with business stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure the collaboration tools meet evolving user needs.Β 

  • Documentation & Training:Β Oversee the creation ofΒ documentation, knowledge bases, and training materialsΒ for messaging and collaboration services.

  • Ensure that support teams have the necessary runbooks and that end-users have access to self-help guides. Promote user adoption by coordinating with theΒ Product Enablement & AdoptionΒ team (e.g., internal newsletters and communities to highlight new features and best practices in using Microsoft 365 toolsΒ 

  • Continuous Improvement:Β Continuously evaluate current systems and processes; driveΒ continuous improvement initiativesΒ to optimize performance, reduce costs, and enhance user experience. This includes simplifying architecture (e.g. reducing on-prem footprint in favor of cloud services), automating routine tasks (such as user provisioning or email retention cleanup), and measuring success via defined KPIs (uptime, ticket volume, user satisfaction, etc.).Β 

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience as a Product Owner or Senior Product Manager, particularly with 365 products

  • Proven leadership in managing direct reports and delivering results through others.

  • Strong skills in product strategy, prioritization, stakeholder management, and communication.

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple products and initiatives in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and mentoring abilities, with a focus on team success.

Other:

  • As per MUFG’s Return to Office policy, a candidate must work onsite for 4 days and 1 day remotely out of either Jersey City, NJ or Tempe, AZ office.

  • The typical base pay range for this role is between $127K - $182K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
