Product Manager - Chemicals / Hazmat

Role Overview

We are seeking a driven and organized Product Manager to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives supporting customer-facing chemical and hazmat product operations. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering product initiatives that enable supply continuity, cost optimization, regulatory compliance, and digital product portfolio growth.

The Product Manager will coordinate stakeholders across procurement, production, technical, quality, commercial, and other cross-functional in-house teams; manage timelines and risks; and ensure product initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives. This role also plays a key part in supporting digital product and inventory optimization, ensuring accurate and effective online product representation.

Key Responsibilities

As Product Manager, Chemicals / Hazmat, you will:

  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of strategic product initiatives related to sourcing, supplier development, contract implementation, and product portfolio optimization. • Develop and manage comprehensive product plans, including scope, timelines, milestones, resources, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies. • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, accountability, and timely delivery of product objectives. • Support contract development and implementation activities by coordinating reviews, approvals, and compliance milestones. • Manage supplier-related product initiatives, including onboarding, qualification, performance improvement, and supply risk mitigation efforts. • Analyze business requirements, cost drivers, supplier capabilities, and market trends to support data-driven product decisions. • Identify risks related to supply continuity, quality, regulatory compliance, and timelines; proactively drive mitigation and contingency plans. • Apply structured product management methodologies and data analytics to track progress, outcomes, and benefits realization. • Monitor and report KPIs, product status, savings realization, and performance metrics to leadership. • Facilitate stakeholder communication through regular status updates, steering committee meetings, and executive reporting. • Collaborate with commercial and digital teams to support web-based product, pricing, and inventory initiatives tied to product deliverables. • Support new product introductions and digital portfolio expansion through accurate data coordination and execution tracking. • Drive continuous improvement in product execution processes, governance, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

Eligibility

  • Unrestricted authorization to work and travel within and outside the United States.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, additional certifications in Project Management or a related field are a plus

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing cross-functional product initiatives within chemicals, oil & gas, energy, manufacturing, or related industries. • Proven experience leading initiatives involving supplier management, contracts, supply chain, quality, or regulatory requirements. • Demonstrated ability to manage complex timelines, dependencies, and multiple stakeholder groups. • Experience using ERP systems and product or procurement tools (e.g., SAP, Ariba, or similar). • Experience coordinating RFI/RFQ/RFP processes or supplier-related initiatives strongly preferred. • Experience supporting digital platforms, ERP data, or web-based product and inventory initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Projectct management or supply chain certifications (PMP, PgMP, SCMP, CPSM, or equivalent). • Knowledge of chemical raw materials, hazmat products, feedstocks, and regulated supply environments. • Experience supporting digital transformation, e-commerce initiatives, or online inventory optimization.

Working Environment

  • Office-based role. • Occasional travel to supplier sites, manufacturing facilities, or regional offices. • Standard office environment with extended computer use and meetings.
