Spotlight Events, Inc. is an employee-owned (ESOP), a purpose-driven organization headquartered in Eagle, Idaho. For nearly three decades, our brandsβSpotlight Dance Cup and LEAP National Dance Competitionβhave stood at the forefront of the competitive dance industry, producing approximately 90 events in 30 states and 50+ cities annually.

Position Overview
The Β Director of Production Β is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Spotlightβs event production, including AV, staging, media, logistics, and personnel. This individual leads the Technical, Media, and Production teams to ensure consistent execution, maintains high show quality across all venues, and builds scalable systems that support growth and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive oversight of all production-related departments, including Technical, Media, and Event Production teams.
- Directly supervise Production Supervisors, Technical Directors, Media Supervisors, and supporting seasonal team members such as Technical Assistants, Event Staff Supervisors, Photographers, and Videographers.
- Design and lead comprehensive production strategies for scalable and consistent event execution across 90+ venues annually.
- Ensure production teams execute AV, lighting, staging, and multimedia setup to Spotlightβs quality and brand standards.
- Manage high-level logistics planning, including inventory distribution, travel schedules, and vendor negotiations.
- Collaborate with Media and Marketing teams to align photography, videography, and social media content with brand messaging and delivery timelines.
- Oversee the setup and tear down (load-in/load-out) procedures to ensure compliance with safety, timing, and performance goals.
- Guide the training, mentorship, and performance development of all full-time and seasonal production team members.
- Lead cross-functional coordination between production, client engagement, and event operations departments to ensure cohesive execution.
- Drive innovation in show design, media technology, and production systems to support brand differentiation and national growth.
- Evaluate departmental performance and implement continuous improvements in workflows, staffing, and equipment utilization.
- Represent the Production Department at company planning meetings, post-show evaluations, and industry engagements.Β
Key Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelorβs degree in Technical Production, Theater, Media, Event Management, or related field preferred
- Technical certification or equivalent field experience required
- Touring experience with large-scale live events strongly preferredΒ
- 7+ years in live event production, including technical crew oversight and logistics
- Deep understanding of AV, staging, lighting systems, and media workflows
- Experience managing multidisciplinary production teams in a multi-location or touring environment
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
- Budget management and cost analysis expertise
- Proficient in QLab, DMX, rigging, audio boards, camera systems, and editing software
- Self-starter with a high degree of ownership and initiative
- Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure and tight timelines
- Strong organizational, coaching, and delegation skillsΒ
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position requires travel to approximately 7β9 regional events annually, each lasting 3β5 days, and 1β2 national events lasting 6β8 days. During the off-season, the role may also involve supporting warehouse or IT inventory tasks and occasional industry events. The position includes physical activity such as lifting up to 50 pounds, setting up equipment, and working in varied environments, including venues, hotels, and stages. Additionally, team members must be comfortable sharing hotel accommodations with same-gender colleagues during event assignments.
