Summary
As the Data Governance Product Owner on the DEMI team, you will be responsible for maximizingΒ 
the value of, and supporting the execution of, the data governance program and initiatives acrossΒ 
the organization. This involves developing and maintaining a strategic vision for enterprise dataΒ 
products (e.g., dashboards, data pipelines, APIs, reconciliation tools, and quality scorecards) thatΒ 
deliver measurable business value. This role will communicate product direction clearly toΒ 
stakeholders and team members through roadmaps, presentations, and regular updates – includingΒ 
progress reports on product priorities, timelines, and outcomes. You will manage the backlog forΒ 
data governance and act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams,Β 
translating high-level requirements into detailed tasks and quantifiable results. You will workΒ 
closely with data engineers, analysts, compliance teams, and business stakeholders to ensure dataΒ 
quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role is critical in enabling trustedΒ 
data use across the organization.β€―

Qualifications
Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Data Science, or Business Administration

Work Experience Required:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Project Manager, or Supervisor of a technicalΒ team.Β 
  • Proven track record of delivering successful data products or platforms that drive businessΒ value and/or user adoption.Β 
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including backlog management, sprintΒ planning, and stakeholder engagement.Β 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical requirements, user stories,Β and product roadmaps.Β 

Preferred Qualifications, Education, Licenses, Certifications, Experience, etc.:

  • CDMP Certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure).β€―Β 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.β€―Β 
  • Agile/Scrum experience.β€―Β 
  • This role involves interaction and collaboration with other departments and requiresΒ excellent judgment and interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Define and Communicate Product Vision:Β 

  • Develop and maintain a strategic vision for data products.Β 
  • Communicate direction for data products clearly to stakeholders and team members.Β 
  • Provide regular updates on product progress, priorities, and roadmaps for data products.Β 

Prioritize Requirements and Manage Backlog:Β 

  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to elicit, document, and prioritizeΒ data product requirements.Β 
  • Create stories, refine stories, and track the progress of stories within our backlog for workΒ related to tickets, feature enhancements, process improvements, and long-term dataΒ management strategies.Β 
  • Ensure we are clearly communicating technical feasibility when requests come through, forΒ proposed features within data products, enhancements to data products, or data changes –such as, pipeline changes, data monitoring, dashboard changes, etc.Β 

Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration:Β 

  • Facilitate alignment among data engineers, analysts, scientists, and business units to deliverΒ value-driven data products (i.e., real-time operational dashboards, revenue reconciliationΒ tools, or compliance scorecards).Β 
  • Partner with data and security teams to ensure adherence to internal data security policiesΒ and external data protection laws and regulations – such as, HIPPA requirements, SOC 2,Β internal Data Standards, and Data Policies (i.e., AI Policy, Data Classification Policy, DataΒ Retention Policy, etc.).Β 

Drive Product Delivery and Iteration:Β 

  • Support timely delivery and iterative improvement of data products, incorporatingΒ feedback and maintaining quality standards.Β 
  • Define and track data product specific KPIs (e.g., query performance, data latency, data toolΒ adoption rates, and data quality scores) to evaluate success and guide continuousΒ improvement.
  • Use data and feedback to guide enhancements to data products, ensuring they remainΒ relevant, reliable, and effective.

Support User Adoption and Change Management:Β 

  • Create and deliver training materials, documentation, and user guides to promote adoptionΒ of data products and tools and ensure business users can effectively leverage data products.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to manage changes, gather feedback, and driveΒ consistent utilization across teams.

Physical Requirements

  • Office Environment: Tasks may be conducted within a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Physical Activity: The role may require the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials,Β supplies, and equipment (up to 25 lbs.) Duties typically involve a combination of sitting,Β standing, and walking, with frequent changes in position.
  • Travel: Travel may be required, including travel between facility locations, remoteΒ facilities, and out-of-town destinations as needed. Travel time required up to 10%.Β 
  • Safety Equipment: May require the use of safety equipment for infection prevention.
