Education and Experience:

·       At least 6-8 years’ experience developing and demonstrating the skills outlined herein, preferably in an information product innovation, implementation and marketing environment

·       Bachelor’s degree in business or related field

·       Experience in STEM or other relevant B2B publishing is a plus

·       Experience with the engineering discipline is a plus

Job Summary: 

 

This position, under the direction of the Senior Product Manager, Corporate Markets, will support the research, business development, implementation, launch, operations, and product management of IEEE products and services supporting engineering information needs in industry, including the IEEE DiscoveryPoint (IDP) products. The role will be responsible, as directed, for current and future services, in their scoping, positioning, implementation, launch and further development, including their product definition, value proposition, partner relations, market research, business plan development, financial planning and delivery, and in the day-to-day activities that support the management of IDP and other products to ensure they meet customer requirements and drive new IEEE revenue. Tasks will include working with Product Management, Product Marketing, and vendors to take the lead in identifying and meeting market opportunities, building product definitions, and the licensing of third-party resources. The position will work closely with the Senior Product Manager as well as with IEEE Volunteers, Members, customers, market research, sales, publications management, marketing, technology, finance, and platform management in the support of the portfolio of IDP and other industry-focused services.

Primary Responsibilities

This position will work with the Senior Product Manager to manage and grow the corporate product portfolio, including creating, managing, and executing product roadmaps with support from team members, supporting the sales team to develop a healthy pipeline, monitoring product profitability, managing product positioning, and helping to successfully develop, launch, and enhance current and new products, including IDP services. These responsibilities will apply to:

·        Day-to-day product direction of selected existing products in the industry portfolio

·        Leading and supporting the research, development, launch, and management of selected new products for the portfolio

·        Research, selection, licensing, and partner management in licensing content for products

Additional Responsibilities

·       Executes on research and data analytics projects that help to understand user/buyer workflows, market needs, customer engagement, and key market trends and challenges, user/buyer personas and processes, purchase drivers, and competition

·       Leverages relationships with IEEE colleagues, Volunteers, and partners to coordinate and support the process of evaluating new business ideas and integrates understanding of customer needs into this process

·       Supports day-to-day maintenance of existing products including creating and submitting requirements for enhancements, working on contract amendments, gathering and organizing internal stakeholder feedback as needed

·       Works with internal stakeholders, external marketing firms, and customers/prospects to support business plans and the development of business cases

·       Collaborates with Sales, Customer Service, Finance, Product Marketing, Pricing & Strategic Analysis, and Technology teams to execute on plans to meet product objectives and report on metrics and key results to help guide and measure success

·       Analyzes and improves products and processes to grow overall go-to-market effectiveness, including pricing, promotional messaging, business models, product bundles, positioning, sales models

·       Works with Product Marketing to define, refine, expand, and promote value propositions, driving growth and revenue for the business

·       Supports processes for capturing field intelligence from the sales channel, including competitive intelligence, behavioral segmentation data, and other relevant market information

·       With direction, helps identify high quality relevant content for inclusion in IDP products and creates and maintains relationships with these content partners

·       Monitors product metrics – sales, usage, customer satisfaction, etc. to ensure product continues to meet buyer/user objectives and requirements. Develops reporting of these metrics to inform leadership of product growth
