The Hartford is seeking an Agile Product Owner (APO) to support our Cross Business Insurance Data Insights portfolio. This critical role sets the priorities for 1-2 agile teams, represents the voice of the customer, and links execution to the business vision. The APO will support a high-performing data delivery organization focused on maintaining, evolving, and modernizing the Cross Business Insurance data ecosystem. This role will report to the Head of Cross Business Initiatives.
Responsibilities:
โขย ย ย Lead product execution for 1-2 agile teams within the Cross Business Insurance Data Insights portfolio.
โขย ย ย Represent the voice of the customer to the agile teams.
โขย ย ย Manage the product backlog, writing features and breaking them down into stories and prioritizing stories to maximize business value.
โขย ย ย Partner with the Scrum Master, agile teams, APMs, Tech Leads, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions deliver the business vision.
โขย ย ย Accountable for the health and readiness of the team backlog.
โขย ย ย Validate that the solution and functionality meet the product vision.
โขย ย ย Guide the agile teams in determining sprint goals, linking execution activities to business intent.
โขย ย ย Ensure the agile teams understand the items in the backlog and their business value.
โขย ย ย Accept completed stories that meet the โdefinition of doneโ and quality expectations.
โขย ย ย Engage with business and technology stakeholders to identify product opportunities and implications.
โขย ย ย Answer customer questions about the data and provide training, where applicable.
โขย ย ย Provide perspective on portfolio/value stream vision and roadmap.
โขย ย ย Manage data request intake system and prioritize work across stakeholder groups.
โขย ย ย Drive communication and change management activities for the enhancements being delivered.
โขย ย ย Monitor and share execution progress, including risks and impediments, to proactively communicate deliverable timeline impacts.
โขย ย ย Coordinate User Acceptance Testing with data stakeholders.
โขย ย ย Analyze delivery metrics to identify key trends and opportunities for continuous improvement within the agile teams.
โขย ย ย Pursue opportunities to mentor Associate APOs.
Qualifications:
โขย ย ย 3+ years of experience in a product-related role, data, technology, or related field.
โขย ย ย Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
โขย ย ย Knowledge of agile methodologies and frameworks such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.
โขย ย ย Experience with data & analytics, business intelligence, data warehouse, or Data Lake delivery projects preferred.
โขย ย ย Experience with agile lifecycle management tools (e.g., Rally, JIRA).
โขย ย ย Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams preferred.
โขย ย ย Strong collaboration and influence skills, including the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across multiple business units.
โขย ย ย Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand audiences, tailor messages, and influence outcomes.
โขย ย ย Proficiency in impactful storytelling, communication, and relationship-building across a broad range of technical and non-technical audiences.
โขย ย ย Experience with analyzing data to identify insights and create hypotheses for testing.
โขย ย ย Familiarity with mentoring junior APOs and contributing to an Agile product management community of practice.
โขย ย ย Self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to handle multiple high-priority demands, manage expectations, and achieve objectives.
โขย ย ย Experience with ADKAR or other change management frameworks preferred.
โขย ย ย Experience accessing and retrieving data by creating and tuning SQL queries; understanding of data warehousing tools and databases is a plus.
โขย ย ย Basic understanding of data transformation and data warehouse concepts.
โขย ย ย Experience in cloud-based platforms is a plus.
โขย ย ย CSPO or PSPO preferred
Additional Details:

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartfordโs total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
