Description

This role is responsible for managing and coordinating product development activities within research and development, as well as overseeing the entire product life cycle for a designated group of cut flower crops. Β The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for flowers, and the ability to bridge the gap between customer needs and product development.Β

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy for our product offerings ensuring they relate to the Company’s overall goals, vision, and values.
  • Track new products and help develop, lead, and implement strategy for production introduction resulting in the successful commercialization of new products.
  • Work with breeders and others in developing breeding goals for crops leading to timely introductions meeting customer needs. Make recommendations for product assortment changes.
  • Manage necessary aspects of product trialing to ensure that appropriate data is collected, data generated, and appropriate pictures/videos and reports completed which will result in successful trialing, ensuring quality and performance of the products and customer success at all levels with new products launched into the market.
  • Help plan and execute product launches, including involvement in marketing strategies, product positioning, and pricing strategies. Monitor product performance post-launch.
  • Develop contacts with salespeople, customers & growers to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and competitive positioning.
  • Monitor the entire product lifecycle to ensure market position, which includes staying informed about competitors in the horticulture industry and identifying opportunities to differentiate our products. Make recommendations for product assortment deletions to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain a roadmap that outlines the future direction of the Company’s products lines including new product releases and updates to existing products.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or a relevant field. A background in horticulture, botany, or plant science is a plus. Minimum 3 years’ experience in industry.
  • Proven experience in product management, growing or sales, in the horticulture/ag industry.
  • Ability to lead, manage, support and motivate colleagues as well as foster a positive culture. A genuine passion for flowers is highly desirable.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Data-driven decision-making and the ability to analyze market trends is important.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrates competency with MS Office products, SAP knowledge beneficial.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectivesΒ 
  • Acquires data from multiple and diverse sources when solving problems.Β 
  • Ability to look toward the broadest possible view of an issue or challenge.Β 
  • Sets objectives to align with broader organizational goals.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift upwards of 20 pounds of weight, several times per day.
  • Travel: approximately 30-35% of the time, fluctuating depending upon the needs of the role/season. Both domestic and international.Β 
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods in a greenhouse or in field trials.Β 
  • May be required to assist in physical field & greenhouse activityΒ 
  • May be required to kneel/bend.Β 
  • Ability to work in various greenhouse conditions and outside elements. Heat/cold/rain/mud/humidity (50% of time)
  • Minimal climbing and balance (less than 1% time).

Salary Range: $72-90kΒ
