The Director - Product Management position is new and will be responsible for Product Management “blocking & tackling” – including oversight of all details, mechanics and processes to ensure successful delivery of the product roadmap. This is a hands-on role (player/coach) expected to define, refine and model the product management processes, and coach and mentor the product management team to ensure consistency across all products. In addition, the perfect candidate possesses a strong analytical and strategic skill set and is comfortable outline a strategic vision for long term business growth.
The perfect candidate will have experience understanding the delicate balance between Product, Operations, and Marketing and will understand how to present a business case and go to market plan. Experience in Operations or Product for a start-up or technology company strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Lead/manage/mentor the Product Management team of between 2 and 4 (Prod Mgr, Assoc Prod Mgrs/Owners)
Define/Refine/Optimize the product management methodology to support scalability and on-target delivery
Research and support a business case for all major Product initiatives
Drive success of Product team to lead with well researched and defined business case for all Product stories
Familiarity with the PR FAQ and Product Press Release Business case method of product planning
Expert at drafting a Lean Canvas business plan
Comfortable and skilled at assembling a strong product business plan to be presented at executive and board level for approval
Proficiency and basic skills for revenue modeling in Microsoft Excel
Expert sales skills when communicating value proposition of Openforce products to existing and prospective customers
Strong ability to collaborate across Sales, Marketing, and Engineering
Drive success of each Product sprint/release from product perspective
Oversee Release Planning including Roadmap development/reporting, establishment/coordination of priorities, creation of user stories, etc.
Coordinate sprints and releases with Engineering team and other Business Stakeholders (Program management, Marketing, Sales, Customer success and others)
Proven and demonstrable experience building a business plan for product initiatives or opportunities
Comfortable with basic financial projections, excel models, and presenting to senior and executive leadership
Liaison closely with all key Stakeholders, Product & Project Managers, and Development teams, to coordinate, prioritize, and communicate/report on-going status to deliver the product roadmap
Actively shapes the Product team by sharing best practices and successes, and providing feedback to more junior team members to help them improve their skills
Establishes, monitors and reports on key product management success metrics
Interfaces/communicates regularly with company executives while under-promising and over-delivering
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, preferably in a start-up or the technical field
Prior experience at gig economy or tech companies such as Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, GrubHub, Postmates, GoPuff, Apple, Amazon, Google strongly preferred
Experience working with and communicating with Executive leadership, investors, and board members
5+ years of experience as Product Manager or Product Director in a SaaS company
Experience creating strategic product roadmap(s) from conception to launch and working with cross-functional teams
Skilled with Excel, Scrum, Jira, and Confluence
Understanding or experience with day-to-day backlog prioritization
Experience building and presenting business cases to senior leadership
Knowledge of multiple functional areas such as Product Management, Engineering, UX/UI, Sales, Customer Support, Finance or Marketing
High level knowledge of insurance products and components as relevant to transportation industry and contract workers
Ability to influence multiple stakeholders without direct authority
Has the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Has strong team leadership skills and experience
